Knowledge Base

A structured collection of facts or documents an AI system or support tool can reference when answering questions.

A knowledge base is a structured collection of facts, definitions, or documents organized so a system (an AI chatbot, a search tool, an internal support tool) can reference it accurately. The difference between a knowledge base and a pile of documents is structure: consistent entries, clear relationships between them, and metadata that says what each entry is and when it was last verified.

Example

This glossary, with its cross-linked `related_terms`, functions as a small knowledge base an AI system can use to answer "what is a dataset schema" accurately.
